In October 2019, we were awarded Youth Music funding to deliver our project called Beat Loop.

Beat Loop is a project designed by The Boom Dang Foundation in partnership with Sedbergh Drive, Children’s Services to deliver music sessions to Looked After Children.

The aim of the project is:

To deliver weekly music sessions at Sedbergh Drive Respite Home
To work county wide at residential homes in Whitehaven, Carlisle and Barrow-in-Furness
To build a workforce by delivering our Advanced traineeship that is specific to working with Looked After Children

We are half-way through the project and to date we have worked with 28 young people, ran 40 sessions, worked in two residential homes and achieved 5 Bronze Arts Awards!

We use iPads, Live Loops, Keyboards, Boom Dang Drums, guitars and a mobile recording studio to create new original music, composed by the young people.

We absolutely love this work and are looking forward to continuing for the rest of the project.
